We operate a pre-booking system via Eventbrite for our walks. This enables us to manage numbers on the walks to help you get the best experience. You will receive an email confirming your booking from Eventbrite.
Please do not set out for the starting point of the walk before you have received confirmation from Eventbrite of your booking.
In the email confirming your order from Eventbrite, the guide will confirm the starting point of the walk, tell you where the first stop will be, and provide a mobile number to reach her or him on.
It normally takes at least 5 minutes to gather the group and give the introduction at the starting point and a further 5 minutes to move on to and complete the first stop, so this should give you about 10 to 15 minutes to catch up with the group.
If you notify the guide, by replying to Eventbrite email confirming your booking, that you will not be coming on the walk more than 24 hours before the walk starts, the guide will provide a refund of your ticket price if you ask for one.
It is extremely unlikely that a walk would ever be cancelled. Possible causes would be extreme weather conditions (at the level where the public are warned not to go out) and catastrophic transport failure.
In the unlikely event of cancellation, your guide will give you as much notice as possible by email through Eventbrite and will offer you either a refund or the opportunity to transfer your booking to a future occurrence of the walk.
In the highly unlikely event of the guide not turning up, you will of course be given a refund. If a guide knows in advance that they will be unavoidably indisposed, she or he will give you as much notice as possible by email through Eventbrite and will offer you either a refund or the opportunity to transfer your booking to a future occurrence of the walk.
The approximate duration of each walk is indicated on the Eventbrite booking page. The guide will also notify you in your booking confirmation approximately how long the walk will last. In general, this will be between 1½ and 2 hours. The guide will also notify you in the confirmation email where the walk will end.
Obviously this depends how many people book. Your guide will set a maximum number of bookings: this may vary depending on the nature of the walk but the absolute limit is 25 and normally the maximum will be kept to 15 or 20 to improve the quality of your experience on the walk.
All our guides have their photograph next to their profile on the Guides page of this site. If you have difficulty finding them, try ringing their mobile phone number which they will provide in the booking confirmation email.
