Hackney Wick: A mudpatch in the middle of nowhere

Hackney Wick: A mudpatch in the middle of nowhere

Yesterday I went on Sue Doe's walk around Hackney Wick. It is quite a surprise as you leave the station to see all of the graffiti around you but this is only a small part of what makes the area tick. The Wick is home to many many artists studios and the walls are used as canvasses.

We heard about pioneering and progressive employers as well as the many modern day products that started life in this small area of East London

We also heard of businesses that relocated to the area in the run up to the London 2012 Olympic games, a well known TV location along the water and the beautiful houses surrounding Victoria Park.

The area was and is rich in industry, art and invention as well as having many characters who Sue told us about along the way.

A very enjoyable "mudpatch in the middle of nowhere" I would say and as luck would have it yesterday the weather was kind and we didn't need our wellies!
